Oath Prep: US Citizenship Test
Official questions and answers, spaced review.
com.ibrahimtxy.uscivics · Education
Prepare for the civics test of your U.S. naturalization interview: all 128 questions of the 2025 test, or the 100 of the 2008 test if you filed Form N-400 before October 20, 2025.
Oath Prep is an independent study app, not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or any government agency.
What it does
- Flashcards with spaced review: a question you miss comes back sooner; scratch-to-reveal if you like
- Interview simulation with the 2025 rules: 20 questions, pass at 12 correct, stop at 9 wrong
- Type your answer before you see it: it is shown next to the official answers and spelling slips are pointed out
- Answers for your state; pick your representative from the official list
- If USCIS updates an officeholder answer, you get a notification and the card returns for review
- Read aloud by your phone's offline US English voice, card by card or hands-free (each card up to 3 times, in order or shuffled); answer out loud with on-device speech recognition, nothing recorded
- Reading and writing practice with the USCIS word lists, a 65/20 mode and a home-screen widget
- USCIS's 10 Steps to Naturalization as a checklist, and a PDF study guide with your state's answers
How you set it up
Pick your test, or enter your N-400 filing date and the app picks it, then study the day's cards; practice tests and the interview simulation use the same official questions. The questions and answers are packaged with the app, so studying works with no signal; the app goes online only for ads and for its once-a-day check of the USCIS page.
Who it is for
People preparing for the U.S. naturalization interview, and anyone helping them study.

What it does not do
- It never asks for your A-number or N-400 answers, books no interview and submits nothing to USCIS.
- It asks for no account. No sign-up, no password.
- The developer collects no personal data and adds no analytics or crash reporting. In the free version the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects IP address, app interactions, diagnostics and device IDs (see Data safety).
- The free tier shows Google AdMob ads: a bottom banner, rewarded ads you start yourself and an “Ad”-labelled card inside the list; no full-screen ads between pages or on launch. Paid members see no ads and no ad request is made.
Version history
0.2.0 (2026-10-28)
- New: type your answer in a test round; it is shown next to the official answers, spelling slips are pointed out and you grade it.
- New: hands-free play reads each card 1, 2 or 3 times, and you can shuffle the cards that come next.
- New: scratch-to-reveal flashcards, USCIS's 10 Steps to Naturalization as a checklist, and a PDF study guide with your state's answers.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | So the daily check of the USCIS page waits until the phone is online, and so the ad library can see the connection state. |
INTERNET | For ads, and to read USCIS's public “Check for Test Updates” page at most once a day. Your study progress never leaves the device and the app has no server of its own. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | For the study reminder you turn on and the alert when USCIS changes an answer. |
READ_BASIC_PHONE_STATE | So the ads library can tell Wi-Fi from mobile data. It grants no access to your phone number, IMEI or call log; the app does not declare it, the ads library adds it. |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | So the reminder and the daily check resume after the phone restarts. |
RECORD_AUDIO | Only for “Answer out loud”, asked the first time you use it: the phone's on-device speech recognizer listens while the indicator is on. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent. |
VIBRATE | To vibrate when a notification arrives. |
WAKE_LOCK | So the phone does not fall asleep in the middle of a check. The app does not ask for this itself; the background work library (Android Jetpack WorkManager) adds it. |
BILLING | So you can buy a paid membership through Google Play. The app does not declare this permission itself; the Google Play Billing library adds it. Your payment details (card, address, invoice) never reach the app and are never seen or stored by it — Google Play takes the payment. All the app learns is whether your membership is active. |
AD_ID | Ads in the free tier are served by Google AdMob, which may read the device advertising ID (AAID). The app does not declare this permission itself; the ads library adds it. Paid members make no ad request at all. You can reset or delete the ID in Settings › Google › Ads. |
