Insurance Renewal Reminder — Privacy Policy

1. What the app does
Insurance Renewal Reminder keeps the records you enter and works them out for you. An example entry: Home policy · renews 1 June · 24 items.
The app reads nothing from the internet: it contacts no source, looks nothing up and has no account to sign in to. Every figure it shows is computed on this phone from what you typed.
2. Data we collect
The developer collects none. We run no server and receive nothing from your device — not your records, not your device identifier, not your usage, not crash reports.
What you share yourself. The email address and phone number fields are optional. What you type there is stored on this phone and printed on the PDF the app produces; it leaves the phone only when you send that PDF through the app you pick from the system share sheet. Because the document can leave the device, the Google Play Data safety section lists Email address and Phone number as data collected optionally, for app functionality. It is never sent to the developer and never shared with the advertising network.
There are two exceptions, and the developer processes neither: in the free tier Google serves the ads and may use your device's advertising ID (AAID) and IP address (§5), and Google ML Kit sends Google its own diagnostic data with an identifier for this installation (§4).
3. What is stored on your device
The records you enter, the settings you choose and the reminders you set, with the time each reminder last went off so that it is not sent twice. All of it lives in the app's private storage and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
4. Servers the app talks to
For its own work, none. The app contacts no source server: there is nothing to fetch. Apart from the advertising and purchase traffic described in §5 and §6 (the free tier is the only tier that makes the first of those), the only other traffic comes from Google ML Kit, the Google library that reads the policy, receipt or label photo you pick; that work itself is done on this phone.
According to Google, ML Kit collects device and app information (such as the phone model, the Android version and the app version), an identifier for this installation that Google says is not intended to identify a user or a device (for the code scanner, which runs in Google Play services, also a device identifier), performance metrics, settings, input and output sizes, event types and error codes, and sends them to Google over HTTPS for diagnostics and usage analytics; Google does not share them with third parties. That list does not include your pictures, your text or your records. The code scanner the app opens is part of Google Play services and is covered by the same Google page. Google describes it at https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure. The Google Play Data safety section lists that identifier as collected for analytics.
5. Advertising
This section applies to version 0.1.0 and later. Earlier versions show no ads, contain no advertising library and read no advertising ID.
The free tier shows ads. They are served by Google AdMob; the developer does not choose what is shown and has no direct relationship with advertisers. The formats used are:
- Banner — at the bottom of the screen; it never covers your content.
- Rewarded — only when you tap the offer yourself; it relaxes free-tier limits for 24 hours.
- Native — a card inside the app's own screens, always marked with an “Ad” label.
Interstitial, rewarded interstitial and app open ads are no longer used; versions of the app released before 28 October 2026 also showed these formats.
- Paid members see no ads and no ad request is made — nothing leaves the device for AdMob, and no consent form is shown.
- To select, serve and measure ads, Google may use your device's advertising ID (AAID) and IP address. The developer never reads or stores that identifier; Google is the party that processes it.
- You can reset or delete the advertising ID in Settings › Google › Ads. The app keeps working if you do.
- In the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, Google's certified consent form is shown before the first ad loads. You can change your choice later from the Privacy options link inside the app.
- How Google processes this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
The developer adds no analytics (Firebase Analytics and the like), no crash reporting (Crashlytics and the like) and no marketing tracker. How you use the app is never reported to the developer. The diagnostic and usage data Google ML Kit sends (§4) goes to Google, not to the developer.
6. Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | So the ad library can see the connection state. Your entries do not use the network. |
INTERNET | For ads ONLY. Your entries never leave the device and the app has no server of its own. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | To remind you about the dates and reminders you set yourself. |
READ_BASIC_PHONE_STATE | So the ads library can tell Wi-Fi from mobile data. It grants no access to your phone number, IMEI or call log; the app does not declare it, the ads library adds it. |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | So your reminders keep working after the phone restarts. |
VIBRATE | To vibrate when a notification arrives. |
WAKE_LOCK | So the phone does not fall asleep in the middle of a check. The app does not ask for this itself; the background work library (Android Jetpack WorkManager) adds it. |
BILLING | So you can buy a paid membership through Google Play. The app does not declare this permission itself; the Google Play Billing library adds it. Your payment details (card, address, invoice) never reach the app and are never seen or stored by it — Google Play takes the payment. All the app learns is whether your membership is active. |
AD_ID | Ads in the free tier are served by Google AdMob, which may read the device advertising ID (AAID). The app does not declare this permission itself; the ads library adds it. Paid members make no ad request at all. You can reset or delete the ID in Settings › Google › Ads. |
7. Payment and membership
If you buy a paid membership, the payment is handled by Google Play. Your card details are never entered into the app and are never seen by the developer.
Monthly and yearly memberships renew automatically; Google Play charges your account at the start of each period. The lifetime membership is a one-off purchase and does not renew. You can cancel a subscription at any time in Google Play Store › Menu › Subscriptions; cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are also handled by Google Play — the developer has no access to the payment.
The app has no server of its own. Whether your membership is active is read again every time the app asks Google Play (when you open the app and when you view the membership screen). That is why a cancellation or refund closes the membership the next time you open the app. If you changed device, Restore purchases on the membership screen brings back a purchase made with the same Google account.
8. Children
The app is not directed to children. The developer collects no data from anyone; the advertising data described in §5 is processed by Google.
9. Keeping and deleting your data
Everything the app stores stays on your device; there is no account and no server copy. Clearing the app’s storage, or uninstalling the app, deletes everything it has ever kept — nothing survives elsewhere, so there is no separate deletion request to make. A paid membership is held by Google Play, not by the app: it survives reinstalling and can be brought back with Restore purchases.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
11. Contact
12. This app in detail
The sections above apply to every app by this developer. What follows is written for this app only and describes exactly what it records, what it never records and what it will not claim.
SUMMARY The developer receives none of your personal data. Everything it holds — your insurers with the phone numbers, email and web addresses and opening hours you type for them, policy numbers, start and end dates, premiums and their earlier values, cover limits, the items in your home with their rooms, boxes, categories, brands, models, values, currencies, serial numbers, warranty end dates, your own fields and service records, the condition checks you save (including the name you type for a tenant or other party), the photos and videos of your policy documents, your possessions and your receipts, and the SHA-256 digests and seals computed from those files — is stored ONLY on your device. There is no account and no sign-in, and no network connection is made in order to save a policy, to seal a photo, to read a policy photo, to produce the PDF report or the Excel file, or to warn you that a policy or a warranty is about to end. WHY THIS MATTERS MORE HERE THAN IN MOST APPS A list of the valuable things in your home, with your address next to it, is a shopping list for a burglar. That is the single reason this app has no cloud, no account and no automatic backup: there is no server that could be breached, because there is no server. Automatic cloud backup is disabled (allowBackup=false). A backup is made only when you choose to write one, to a file you select yourself — and that backup contains the LEDGER ONLY (policies, items, values, photo times, digests and seals), not the image files, because a single photo can be several megabytes. WHEN YOU SEND A REPORT The report PDF is written into the app's own private folder and handed to the app you pick from the system share sheet — email, messages, your cloud drive, or a file of your choosing. The receiving app gets a one-shot permission for that single file and nothing else. We never see the document, never see the recipient and never learn that you sent it; the app only increments a counter on your own device. The PDF contains your name, address, phone number and email address if you entered them (all four fields are optional), your policies with the insurer contact details and premium changes you typed, your item list with the values, categories, boxes, brands, models, your own fields and service records, the totals per currency, and — on the paid plan or after a rewarded ad — the file names and digests of your photos and videos and which of them carry a location written by the camera (the coordinates themselves are NOT printed; see LOCATION). A CONDITION REPORT (move-in, move-out or routine check) is a separate PDF shared the same way. It contains your name and address if you entered them, the name you type for the tenant or other party, each item with its room and the condition and note you chose, and blank signature lines. It contains no values. QR LABELS are a PDF of labels shared or printed the same way. Each label shows an item's name and room or a box's name; its code carries only the item's internal ID or the box name — no value, serial number or address. SHARING A REMINDER OR YOUR DETAILS "Share reminder" hands a short text to the app you pick from the system share sheet: the policy type, the insurer, the policy number, the end date, the premium and the insurer contact details you typed. "Send my details" on the accident screen hands over your name and phone number if you entered them and your insurers with their policy numbers and phone numbers. The app sends neither text itself and never learns whether you sent it. THE REPORT IS NOT A CLAIM Producing the PDF starts no time limit, opens no file and tells no insurer anything. This app is not connected to any insurer, broker, loss adjuster or authority, and it never contacts one on your behalf. To make a claim you must contact your insurer yourself, within the time limit in your own policy wording. THE CAMERA The app does NOT request the camera permission (android.permission.CAMERA is not in this package). When you tap "Add photo", your phone's own camera app is opened through the standard system action and it writes the picture directly into the app's private folder, using a one-shot permission for that single file. "Record video" works the same way with the camera's video mode. The app never opens the camera in the background and never takes a picture or a video without you pressing the shutter. "Add 360° / panorama" lets you pick one picture with the system photo picker; the app copies it into its private folder and seals the copy with the time it was ADDED (the report says "added from gallery", not "taken"). The picture in your gallery is not changed or removed. If the copy still carries a location tag, the app treats it as described under LOCATION. READING A POLICY, RECEIPT OR LABEL PHOTO "Fill from a photo of the policy", "Fill from a receipt photo" and "Find by a photo of its label" let you pick one picture with the system photo picker; "Read this receipt" uses a receipt photo already sealed in the app. The app reads the text in it ON THIS DEVICE with Google's ML Kit text recognition, which is built into the app and needs no network connection to read (§4 describes the diagnostic data ML Kit sends to Google). It offers the dates, premium, total or currency it found, or opens the item whose serial number, model or brand the label shows. Nothing is filled in until you tap a suggestion. A picked picture is not copied into the app, not stored and not sent anywhere. Google describes the data its ML Kit components handle at https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/android-data-disclosure . SCANNING A SERIAL NUMBER "Scan a barcode" opens Google's code scanner, which is part of Google Play services on your phone. Google Play services opens the camera and reads the code; this app receives only the decoded text, puts it in the serial number field, or opens the item that already carries that serial number. It never receives the camera image and does not request the camera permission for this. Scanning a QR label made by this app opens that item or lists the contents of that box. If the scanner module is not on your phone yet, Google Play services downloads it once. You can always type the serial number instead. IMPORTING A LIST "Choose a file" under "Bring in a list" reads an Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file you pick with the system file picker, ON THIS DEVICE. You see how many items and policies were found, and which rows were skipped and why, before anything is added; nothing already in the app is changed. The app keeps no copy of the file and sends it nowhere. CALLING OR WRITING TO YOUR INSURER "Call" opens your phone's dialer with the number you typed; you place the call yourself, and the app has no permission to make calls. "Email" opens your email app and "Website" your browser with the address you typed. "Open my map" on the accident screen opens your map app; the app itself never reads where you are. APP LOCK If you turn on the app lock, the app asks for your phone's own screen lock — your PIN, pattern or password, or a fingerprint where the phone offers one — when it starts and after a minute in the background. The check is done by the phone's system screen: the app never sees, stores or transmits your PIN, pattern, password or fingerprint, and it has no password of its own. While the lock is on, the app's preview in the recent-apps list is hidden (Android 13 and later). EXPORTING TO EXCEL "Save Excel (.xlsx)" writes your policies, cover lines and items as a spreadsheet into a file you choose with the system file picker. It is written only there; the app keeps no copy and sends it nowhere. The spreadsheet contains no photos and no digests. LOCATION This app requests NO location permission of any kind and never asks your phone where you are. The room an item sits in is text that YOU type. If your CAMERA app is set to save the location in its photos, that location is part of the photo file the camera writes into this app's private folder: the app reads it from the file, shows it next to the photo on your phone and includes it in that photo's seal. It is NOT printed in the PDF report and the app never sends it anywhere; it stays inside the original photo file, which you decide whether to send. Turn off location tags in your camera app if you do not want photos to carry it. WHAT THE PHOTO SEAL IS For every photo the app computes a SHA-256 digest of the file and stores it with the time, the time zone and the file size, then seals that record to the previous one. Editing, removing or reordering a record makes the seals stop matching, and the app says so. The picture itself is never modified — no date is burned into the image. This is a local integrity mechanism, not a digital signature and not a trusted timestamp authority: the times come from this phone's clock, so the seal shows that a photo has not changed since it was recorded, NOT that it was taken at a particular moment. The digests are not secret; the whole point is that the loss adjuster you hand the report to can recompute them with a standard tool and check for themselves. VALUES, PREMIUMS AND COVER LIMITS ARE YOURS The app ships with NO premium table, NO tariff, NO cover limits and NO valuation data. It does not know the rates, the limits or the wording for your country, your insurer or your kind of policy, and it never fills one in for you. Every insurer name, policy number, date, premium, cover limit, item value and room on a report was entered by you; the report says so in writing. The app performs no valuation, does not rate or rank policies, and gives no insurance, financial, tax or legal advice. Where your inventory exceeds a cover limit the report shows the arithmetic difference and nothing more: what an insurer actually pays depends on depreciation, the settlement basis, single-item limits, the excess and the exclusions in your wording, and the app calculates none of those. INTERNET AND PERMISSIONS The internet permissions (android.permission.INTERNET, android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) are used for advertising and by the Google ML Kit text recognition library, which sends Google diagnostic and usage data (§4 lists it; Google's list does not include your photos or their text). POST_NOTIFICATIONS, VIBRATE and RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED are used for the policy renewal and warranty reminders and the weekly summary, and WAKE_LOCK is added by the background work library while a scheduled check runs. A reminder names the policy or item it is about. If your phone's lock screen is set to hide sensitive notification content (an Android setting), a reminder shows there only "Policy renewal", "Warranty reminder" or "Weekly renewal summary", without the insurer or the item; if it is not, Android shows the full reminder on the lock screen too. The advertising and measurement libraries add com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID and android.permission.READ_BASIC_PHONE_STATE to the package. Purchases use com.android.vending.BILLING. The app requests NO external storage permission, NO camera permission and NO location permission. ADVERTISING (Google AdMob) The free version shows Google AdMob advertising. Three ad formats are used: a bottom banner, a native ad inside the app's own content, and a rewarded video you start yourself. There are no full-screen ads between screens or when the app opens. AdMob may process identifiers such as the advertising ID in order to serve ads. Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent screen through Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP); you can change your choice later under Settings > Privacy. Google's privacy policy applies to AdMob's own processing: https://policies.google.com/privacy ⚠️ Your policies, policy numbers, address, item list, values and photos are NEVER shared with the advertising network. Ads are requested with no information from your vault. PAID MEMBERSHIP You can buy an ad-free membership through Google Play Billing. A paying member sees no advertising at all: no ad is displayed and no ad request is even sent. The paid plan also raises how many policies and items you may hold and adds the SEALED EVIDENCE APPENDIX to the report — the SHA-256 digest of every photo, the seal chain, the instructions your insurer can use to check them, and the cover comparison table. Alternatively, watching a rewarded ad unlocks that appendix for 24 hours. The DATED INVENTORY REPORT ITSELF IS NEVER BEHIND THE PAYWALL: it is produced on every plan, offline, at any hour, because the day you need it is the day of a fire, a flood or a burglary, and meeting a payment screen on that day would make the app useless exactly when it is supposed to work. The renewal warning is not behind the paywall either. Purchases are handled by Google Play; the app never sees or stores your payment details, and you can restore an existing purchase from the membership section. DELETING YOUR DATA A policy or item with no sealed photos can be deleted outright. One that has sealed photos cannot: removing it would break the seal chain and make every other photo in the vault look tampered with. You can edit any policy or item freely — correcting a name, a date or a value changes nothing about a photo or its seal. Uninstalling the app removes all of it: the policies, the inventory, the photos and the counters. Nothing is kept anywhere else, because nothing was ever sent anywhere else. ACCURACY AND SCOPE This app is a record-keeping tool. It is not an insurer, not a broker, not a loss adjuster, not a valuer and not a legal or tax adviser. It does not tell you whether a policy is in force, whether a loss will be paid, or whether your cover is adequate. It shows that your photos have not changed since they were recorded; what a photo or a report is worth in a claim is decided by whoever reads it. Insurer integration and automatic price comparison are deliberately outside this version. CHILDREN The app is not directed at children.
